Dead Tube

DEFINITION A sorting tube that can no longer accept the colour you need because its space is spent.

In Colour Sort a tube becomes dead the moment its remaining capacity is smaller than the run you want to pour into it. Keeping one tube empty is the standard insurance policy; keeping two is what the harder eight-colour boards effectively demand. Our guide on planning two pours ahead walks through the exact sequencing.
